Task work with Met to track down uninsured drivers across London

Task, NSL’s debt recovery agency, recently played their part in keeping London’s roads safe and minimising criminal activity.

Members of Task worked with the Metropolitan Police on Operation Cubo, a year-long, London-wide operation. In that time 42,000 vehicles have been seized, with almost 80% found to be driven by criminals or their associates.

Task was able to utilise its ANPR vehicle, which is used to automatically read the registration plates of vehicles from a distance, flagging up any that were of interest.

Task’s software located almost fifty vehicles with outstanding warrants at the five operations which took place in Ilford, Wandsworth and Camden, including the capture of three persistent evaders. The police also took twenty-eight uninsured vehicles off the road, including a top-of-the-range BMW, and an adult male who was driving whilst disqualified.

Dave Freeman, Task’s Director of Operations, said: “These operations are vital to tackle the 100,000 outstanding warrants on our system, capturing persistent evaders, and those who avoid enforcement by having their vehicles registered to false addresses.

“With the level of criminality that is often uncovered as a result these operations, our roads are kept much safer for us all.”
