Tameside CEOs catch bike thieves

Last September two Civil Enforcement Officers (CEOs) employed by NSL and working on behalf of Tameside Council, proved just how vigilant they were when their observations prevented a bike from being stolen.

Whilst on duty in Ashton town centre, one of the CEOs came across two young men, who were dragging a bike from the roof of a vehicle. The CEO reacted swiftly to approach and questioned the suspects, who failed to unlock the vehicle.

He then called for assistance from a colleague but the suspects managed to escape before further action could be taken. However, the incident was later reported to the police and after prompt investigations, which included an Identification parade, one of the thieves was arrested.

We later learnt that the vehicle is owned by Steven Pleasant, Chief Executive of Tameside Council. He expressed his gratitude for the CEOs courageous actions and said: “I would like to thank them for saving my ten year old bike. I’ve taken it across Europe on that bike rack and it’s provided me with many a happy moment. It’s practically part of the family, many thanks.”

Sonya May, NSL’s Client Account Manager at Tameside, said: “This is one of many instances where our CEOs across Tameside have demonstrated their vigilance, and so have prevented another bike crime. This particular incident bears testament to the professionalism and importance of our CEOs in communities.’’
