Non-Emergency Transport

NSL is the largest private Non-Emergency Patient Transport provider in the UK transporting over 2m patients to and from their appointments every year.

Non-Emergency Patient Transport (NEPT) is a service made available for those who meet the eligibility criteria set by transport commissioners. When booking a journey online, over the telephone, or via one of our hospital floor walkers, our knowledgeable call handlers determine criteria and the transport needs of the eligible patient.

Our experienced journey planners collectively control a fleet of over 500 vehicles covering all possible patient needs, across the UK. Being the UK’s leading provider of NEPT services, means we have the infrastructure in place to provide a wide range of diverse journey types, including blue-light services.

It is not very often you can say you enjoy a visit to the hospital when in pain, but my driver was very helpful, friendly and cheerful, what more could you ask for, thank you!

Bariatric Patient Transport

Experienced planners and move specialists work closely with clinical teams, emergency services and bariatric patients to make attending Appointments safe and dignified.

Our specialist bariatric services transports patients weighing between 160-476kg (25 to 75 stone). The key to the service is not the specialist equipment we use but the collaboration and planning with a patient’s care team, fire services (who are often needed to provide access for lifting equipment) and the patient themselves. Working in partnership and building trust a dedicated coordinator looks after the patient through all stages of a move and focuses on their safety and dignity throughout.

High Dependency

We provide high dependency transport services using specialist vehicles, knowledgable, well trained crews and expereinced support teams. 

Providing around the clock cover we help hospitals manage intensive and critical care spaces by skilfully transferring medically stable, high dependency patients to more suitable hospitals where the right level of care can be provided. In the West Midlands enhanced CRB checked, blue light and first person on scene qualified crews provide emergency and planned transfers for high dependency babies moving between the various categories of neonatal units in the region.

Our crews are on standby 24/7 and supported by hospital floorwalkers who work collaboratively with clinical teams and experienced journey planners to ensure the right team and vehicles arrive where and when they are needed. The high dependency team can call upon a second layer of back office support using advanced tracking and telematics to guide ambulances and monitor vehicle health and journey quality.

By developing our training to paramedic level and enhancing our fleet we will also be able to supply a blue-light service in the future.

Secure Patient Transport

Building trust we use secure patient transport as opportunity to build relationships and reduce patient non-attendance.

There is still a significant stigma around mental health and non-attendance by patients is common. Relationships and trust are important and safe, secure transport is part of the overall care pathway.

As mental health conditions can be incredible complex are liaison team work with clinical staff and treatment coordinators to understand each patients needs and what transport is appropriate. They will then work on a safeguarding plan and assign a regular driver to assist the patient throughout the course of treatment.

Providing a friendly, secure and consistent service builds trust and in Hereford patients will often indicate reasons for non-attendance that can then be addressed and inform future treatment.
