NSL excels in people development as it retains GOLD status

NSL Services Group, the civil enforcement specialist that employs the UK’s largest number of civil enforcement officers, as well as rapidly growing as an NHS non-emergency patient transport partner, has been reaccredited as an Investor in People GOLD (IiP).

IiP GOLD is a prestigious award demonstrating that people development is ‘in its DNA’; the award is held by just a fraction of UK companies and organisations.

To maintain IiP Gold status an organisation must continuously demonstrate how it invests in and leads its people. It is also tested to see how well its business strategy is enabled by its people strategy, its approach to leadership, colleague engagement and all its HR processes.
The IiP GOLD assessment involves on site visits, process reviews and one to one interviews with a cross section of employees. This is then supplemented by an employee engagement survey, which has now moved from bi-annually to occurring every year. NSL’s colleague engagement survey this year generated its highest response rate, a shift from 87% in 2010, to 94% for 2012, whilst maintaining its overall satisfaction rate.

The good news comes as NSL is driving a strong change agenda, which involves its leadership team undergoing unique ‘360’ degree style feedback processes focussing on leadership beliefs and behaviours.

Mark Underwood, NSL Chief Executive, said: “NSL is a people business, and our priority is to ensure that it is the best people business it can be, so it is extremely gratifying that our coveted IiP Gold reaccreditation demonstrates that people development is in the very DNA of everything that we do.”
Meirion Gravell, NSL HR Director, said: “We are immensely proud of our IiP GOLD status -

listening and learning is the key to our on-going success. The more views we get from our colleagues throughout our business, and the more challenges and suggestions we get through our partnership with IiP, the more we can empower and equip our people to succeed.”
