On your bike!

NSL and Westminster City Council have introduced six Cycles into their On Street Parking Operation, as a greener way to patrol the City's busy streets.

The cycles provide an eco-friendly alternative method of transportation for Civil Enforcement Officers to move around the City, and extend the range of areas covered by the normal beats.

The introduction supports Westminster City Council's commitment to becoming leaders in good environmental practice and innovation. The council is committed to reduce carbon emissions from fleet and contractor vehicles by 20% within the next 3 years and the switch to bikes is a positive step, or should we say turn of the wheel, in that direction.

Suzanne Hussey, NSL's Contract manager in Westminster, said,

'We are confident that the new cycles will be well received, and this new innovation will hopefully improve the service that we provide to the public in central London as well as being a greener option'

Kieran Fitsall, Westminster City Council's parking manager, said:

"We welcome this initiative. Using bikes to get around the city is an environmentally friendly way to enable Civil Enforcement Officers to travel across Westminster more efficiently."

And Gary Webb, NSL's Communications Manager added,

'Most companies now say they have a 'green policy' but NSL is backing words up with practical, realistic solutions that really do reduce our carbon footprint.'
