NSL retains high profile Lancashire County Council contract
NSL Services Group has retained the Lancashire wide on-street enforcement contract with Lancashire County Council.
The company first won the contract to run the pioneering county-wide service in 2004 and has now retained it for a further five years, with an option to extend for up to two further years.
The operation was groundbreaking for a number of reasons. It was the first county-wide decriminalised service and therefore covered an unusually wide range of different enforcement challenges, from busy urban centres such as Preston to extremely rural areas in Lancashire.
Alastair Cooper, NSL Director, commented: “Because of the widely differing enforcement requirements across Lancashire the operation had a level of complexity that hadn't previously been seen in UK parking enforcement.
“We were delighted to assist Lancashire County Council in establishing the service, and are pleased to note that the operating methods developed in Lancashire have now been adopted in county-wide operations elsewhere in the UK.”
He added that NSL were very pleased to have retained the contract. “We are in a very competitive market and a large, county-wide operation will always been keenly contested when it goes out to tender.
“Tendering ensures that local authorities can always get the best, most innovative and cost-effective service available and that is what we pride ourselves on delivering."
The new service goes live in September, and although NSL's operation will remain the same the contract will use new hand held computers provided by Spur Information Solutions.
The new technology will further improve the efficiency and accuracy of the operation.
“We will be working with Spur to ensure the new, improved technological support works seamlessly from day one, and ensures an even more efficient service.”
